Good news (very good news) at least for me LOL
Revisiting the lens in 4K gave me a big surprise! it's good wide open (1.2). Very useable. in HD it's not but in 4K keeps some decent contrast/detail. with 1.2 in 4K this camera becomes some serious tool now!
To be considered that 4K eats more light, 6DB more or less compared to HD. So the 1.2 becomes crucial, and it does deliver!.
For run & gun , when there is no time to setup anything then I keep the following settings by default.
settings:
camera in manual. FAW (paint) on Preset. Value (R)+10 (B) 0
AUTO iris (by default)
gain 0 = 0DB
gain 1 = 6DB
gain 2 = AGC
gain limit 15DB
gain : in 4K I have no problem with AGC , so I stay with gain 2 by default
iris limit (only in 4K) open : 1.2 close : 5.6
iris limit (in HD) open 1.8 close 5.6
Hold the SHUTTER to get auto shutter (it does a good job unless I need a particular speed like in sports -1/100- for example)
cinema, vivid
detail 0 (increasing the value will cause more blur panning). sharpness is fine in 4K set 0
I think that I'll shoot 4K by default with this camera, unless I need 60p and high shutter speed, by then I'd shoot HD. the 4K footage looks good (very good) in a 1080 timeline.
Now the camera is ready for 4K. outdoors daylight use the ND filters! I set the aperture limit to 5.6 close and ND are needed. If we stay at 5.6 in bright sunny days the footage will benefit from the sweet spot of the lens (which is 5.6). (and 4K @ 5.6 under a good lighting is -simply put- breathtaking. It is .... )
