View Full Version : Exposure flicker fix?

I use Sony cameras with Metabones adapters for my Canon lenses. In certain lighting conditions the Metabones seems to get confused and can not settle in on an aperture setting. It flickers back and forth changing the aperture about a half stop if in auto mode. I forgot about it because I shoot in manual most of the time. I blew it by walking away from the camera in auto. Now I have a clip that flickers back and forth but ether exposure is good enough. Is there a tool in Premier or After Effects that could possibly have that clip hold a constant exposure? If there is I can't find it. I'm sure it's a long shot but I thought I would ask?

I use creative suite 5.5.

Check out GBDeflicker - it's made for timelapses but it claims to fix flickering on regular video footage too. It's not cheap though, but I think it has a free (probably watermarked) trial version you could test out.

This could work.

Repair Video with BCC Flicker Fixer (http://www.borisfx.com/videos/BCCAVX/Flicker-Fixer.php)

Thanks for the input. Because of the advice I was able to download a non water marked version of Boris CC and salvage the clip.

I do not like fixing anything in post. Especially when I could have prevented the problem. It is like rubbing salt in the wound. Its rare for me...but hey... no one is perfect.

Out of interest, could these programs be used to smooth out an aperture change? (I mainly use DSLRs that click in 1/3 stop increments rather than a smooth iris wheel change.)

Hey Adrian,

I did not dig in to it very far but I bet it could be of some help. The Boris web site said it would not be water marked for 14 days but it was. I used the chat room support and they gave me a link to download one that will work for the two weeks. Cool stuff but $1,000.00 for the whole set of plugins!
