Not sure if this is the right place to post this; but as of now Google Earth Pro is free to use (it used to cost $400 for the software license annually).

The Pro version lets you record HD virtual tours of the earth; a pretty handy tool.

Does this work for everyone but me...?

Pretty much. Just tested it again and it worked for me.

Worst case, just go through to the original link at the beginning of the thread and make sure you note the bit where Google has added to the rego page that you can now download a copy without jumping through the registration hoops.

Of course it works for you Andrew, (otherwise, I guess, you wouldn't post it to us ;-) I just wondered if anyone else could use it.

Actually, it might be because you're Down Under -- as we all know, everything works differently there ;-)

I tried it for Mac and its not free at all, it asked me for a license key provided or to Buy it new.

Guess its restricted to specific parts of the world rather than every place, others may try it and let us know if it does work.

Yes i had the same issue, asked me for a license key, but i'm pretty sure i just clicked on it (Sorry bad memory) & it gave me the license key. It did ask for it, but then gave it!! So you may find it is still free!!

Now I remember, you don't need to sign up, it's written on top of that page:

Sign up is no longer required for Google Earth Pro. Click here to download Earth Pro, then sign in using your email address and the License Key GEPFREE.

Thanks Dave,

This option worked. Got the license key in the email and allowed me to log in with it.

Did the key GEPFREE and your gmailadres not work? Don't understand why you need to register as it clearly says you don't need to?

Checked the information they want and it can be useful in the right hands.

It's undoubtably all about collecting information for their database. Every large company is trying to collect data about their consumers. Unless they say otherwise, they most likely share it, or maybe sell it, to outfits that aggregate the data. Marketers can take the data and target the consumer.

Hi Noa.

I followed the link ("download for free" page) which was kindly given by Andrew and then used your "GEPFREE" key and it worked perfectly. And I don't even have a Google email address. I just used my regular email address and it worked fine. I didn't have to do any registration at all. And I'm on a Mac.

So, thanks for all the great tips, guys!
