It seems that AVID is following the example of other manufacturers by releasing a free version of Protools

You need to read the small print.

"It’s also going to be cloud-based, with only enough introductory storage for three projects and more available for a price "

Wasn't there ALWAYS a free version of ProTools LE? I had it installed before I bought my first I/O (a DIGI 001) and I'm not one for pirating. Or perhaps I got it free with something but I could have sworn it was always available free but crippled.

Cloud project storage? No post house is going to trust that. They're shooting themselves in the foot if they don't allow local storage.

Interesting, but cloud storage excludes a huge part of the planet with poor Internet....

Not to mention no post house with NDAs to uphold would trust the cloud. It's better to just pay for it in that case.

I'm more of a Logic Pro X man myself.
