Hi Gents,

I know this is a bit OT, but I'm frustrated as I expect you are too. Nobody seems to make a decent headphone/mic for general smartphone use. Nothing related to video here, just driving in my van, clients complain of 'whooshing' sound and crappy audio from my phone calls.

Has anyone had any luck adapting a broadcast quality headset w/mic to a smartphone? Or any other ideas. I've got the iPhone6. Preferably with a boom mic w/noise cancellation. Seems most of these headsets are designed for music quality not voice capture.

Cheers,
Kevin

Here in PA, it's illegal to use headphones (or earbuds) that block both ears. So that would rule out any usual dual-ear broadcast gear. (For that matter, it's not entirely clear that single phones are legal... but double are definitely taboo.)

Why not pull over when using the phone? That way you eliminate the "whooshing sound and crappy audio" and you can give your full attention to your clients, all while not endangering your fellow drivers. What's not to like?

That's my own solution to this problem anyway. Then again, I've been known to not answer my phone in heavy traffic (radical idea, I know). I like to be available to clients, but not to the point of endangering my life, or others. And I always call them back when it's safe to do so.
