Hi Folks

Considering getting an X70 and possibly an AX100 to go alongside it. I sold a bunch of gear I wasn't using to get the CX900 as a third cam and after just one shoot have been impressed enough to think about these other two cams in my line up.

The Sony specs state an aperture range of f2.8 - f4.5 on all three of these cams but my CX900 is at f4.0 at the longest end of the zoom range. Just wondering if the X70 and AX100 are the same in this respect. Colour me confused.

Cheers

Jon

Could anyone here do a quick test for me to see what the f-stop is fully open and zoomed all the way in?

It's 2.8 wide to 4.0 at full zoom Jon.

Awesome Tim. Thank you. Can't figure for the life of my why Sony state 2.8 - 4.0.

Maybe because it is f2.8 to f4.0? :)

Oops. Sorry Noa, I meant to say 2.8 - 4.5. Those are the specs given on the Sony site for the cx900, ax100 and x70. Odd.

Sony is infamous for "spec drift" or "mis-specification"... one needs to do as you've done, and check multiple sources at a minimum, and preferably someone with the unit in their hands right in front of them!

But 4.0 is the minimum aperture for the AX100...
