I have an ax100 and a seiki 39" 4k
When the supplied hdmi cable connects the two and hdmi out set to 2160p in the menu and format set to 4k, the screen blacks out when the record button is pushed.
What am I doing or not doing?

this is a limit from the AX-100 ...no HDMI output on 2160 25p / UHD setting at the recording time
this is written in the manual.... on page 36

While recording XAVC S 4K movies,
you cannot output movies to an external monitor via an HDMI/video connection.
Only the on-screen display is output (models with the 4K functionality).

you can only behind recording a clip ...play this clip later on a TV over HDMI out ... with 2160 25p / UHD setting

I can now confirm based on a simple test that composite out is also not available during 4k recording. (bit of a surprise)
