I think it's time to get a new mixer and I'm looking at the Allen & Heath ZED-14.

Anyone have experience, good or bad, with the ZED series mixers?

For what it's worth, I do legal video, primarily depositions -- pretty low-tech compared to what most people on this forum do -- and I'll be using a Panasonic 130a, although I still sometimes use my DVC80.

Have you considered a used sound devices mixpre?
It would be a lot more portable and you get the quiet
preamps and high sensitivity as well.

A&H Mixers are pretty nice. How many sources are we talking about though? If it's less than 5, you'll probably be better off with a small portable mixer instead of a desk mixer.

I need at least four inputs and would prefer six.

Sound Devices seems to be the most highly rated, but they're way out of my price range.

I use the ZED-14 every weekend. It has every feature you'd expect in a small desktop mixer, 4 AUX outs, 6 mono inputs, 4 stereo inputs, solo, and inserts. I like the 1/4" and 1/8" headphone jacks, since I always lose my adapters.

I've had pretty good experience with Mackie mixers. Just for the sake of comparison, check out the ProFX12.

Or, if you want something a lot more portable, but a lot less flexible (6 inputs w/ HPF but no variable EQ, and only 1 output channel), you might consider a Shure M367. Now out of production, but going for ~~ $100 on eBay.
