Belt pack recorder to use by itself, or to daisy chain to a wireless belt pack. Comes in either Sennheiser or Lectroconics jacks with additional options for Shure or Sony systems.
Product: DR-10CS/CL | TASCAM (http://tascam.com/product/dr-10c/)

Also a cube recorder to use plugged directly into the XLR jack of a microphone. (Though it looks like it only works with dynamic mics, as no mention of P48 Phantom power.)
Product: DR-10X | TASCAM (http://tascam.com/product/dr-10x/)

One source stated price will be $199 for the DR-10c & $149 for the DR-10x, released in November.

Each takes micro SDHC cards, has a headphone jack & powered by a single AAA battery.

No phantom power (P48) on the DR-10x :( but I guess we can't have everything.

Juiced Link announced a similar product around NAB last spring, but it is still in development.

Personally I'm really thinking I might pick this one up when it hits the market.

Pretty slick as a stand alone recorder if you can't spring for a wireless kit and don't mind not monitoring it. Much better than tossing recorders into multiple peoples pockets.

I think with the DR-10x it is great for reporters / interviews & since it has a headphone jack you can (should) monitor the audio.

With the DR-10c those have headphone jacks too, but once you place it on a person, you're right, you can't monitor them any more. Still it could be very nice for people who aren't critical. (Personally, if you need the audio, you need to monitor it.)

Overall I find the idea of these much nicer than using a voice recorder (like the Zoom H1) for this purpose.

Also B&H now has items available for pre-order. DR-10x is $179, not $149. DR-10C(L/S) is $199. (AK-DR10CH & AK-DR10CR attachments aren't listed yet.)

I just pre-ordered a Sennheiser model. Juicelink announced something very similar months ago, but has yet to deliver (and their hinted-at price was well above the Tascam price of $200). I needed something like this yesterday. If it's any good, I'll probably buy a couple more.

Tasmcam now saying this about the DR-10c models "Attention : These models are not available in the US."

Ryan, have you gotten any updates? Where did you order yours from?

I'm a little confused about this. The item is now missing from my invoice at B&H (it wasn't going to be charged until it shipped anyhow), and is now listed as a discontinued item on their site. I didn't receive any notification about this. (grumble) I just emailed Tascam to ask what the deal is. It doesn't seem like it should be this hard to get a device like this.

Best guess is some type of lawsuit. But I'm just guessing with little evidence.

It is still listed on the European site, which seems like this is a USA specific issue.

Further, since it is just the DR-10c & not the DR-10x too, the only thing I would guess at is Juiced Link, since he was trying to make a similar device. Again, I have no information to back this up so all speculation.
