I am starting to aquire alot of gear and wanted to know if you guys have any experience insuring your gear? Also liability insurance. If insured, does it really come in handy when your gear is stolen and or, your client wants to sue? I have a contract that covers alot of issues that I have clientssign but wanted more advice regarding insurance. I live in California, any one you recommend?

Hi Jeff

Most decent insurers offer a "photographers package" so search for that in your area as it covers video too. Mine was an all in one that gives me liability plus theft from the venue and theft from a locked vehicle.
So far I have had one claim when was theft from my car.

Be careful as most photog packages ONLY cover your gear on the road and on site and NOT at home so make sure your home contents insurance covers you cameras if they are stolen while at home.

I got mine from Aon as they are worldwide so they also cover you gear if you had to go on safari in Africa!!
