Can someone recommend a product for binding together a number of cables in order to make a snake?

I personally don't have that much experience with it but it's highly regarded by folks who make custom cables. It's very durable and available in many colors.

Thanks as always Rick. I was also looking for something that you could wrap around pre-built XLR and other cables as a quick way to bind them together and make a temporary snake. I have heard of such a product but can't for the life of me remember what it is called.

If you google for "spiral cable binding" you should get lots of hits, and there are other solutions depending on how flexible and easily taken apart you want your snake.

Spiral cable wrap, Split Loom, Split cable tubing are usually found at your local Shack o' Shame or Home Depot. For temporary multi-cable runs ( hard wired dolly camera for instance) I usually bungle cables together with nylon cable ties... Faster, easier, better than that home A/V garbage.. in my opinion.. of course it wouln't come apart without a pair of side-cuts or other cutting tool.

Back in my stagehand days, we made up bundles using cloth-based friction tape. No sharp edges to rip up your hands, like you have with cable ties. Easy to remove later, unlike gaffer tape. And little or no gooey adhesive residue, unlike plastic or rubber electrical tape. I still think it's a good compromise.

Of course if you want something that's going to be highly visible, and you want a high-class look, hand lacing is hard to beat.
