Hi all,

I've got a few different Manfrotto tripods as well as the 561 monopod. Over the years some of the tension nuts have come loose to the point where the legs will not lock firmly into place. I've lost the Manfrotto-supplied allen keys long ago and was wondering if anybody has figured out the standard size of the allen key required to tighten the locking knobs on Manfrotto tripods?

John - the small Allen Key/Hex wrench for the 561 Monopod is 2.0 mm and the larger one that comes attached to the 547B tripod is 2.5 mm. The 701HDV head also needs the 2.0 mm wrench.

One good source for both wrenches is a bicycle multi-tool. I've got a Topeak Hexus II that has both the 2.0 and the 2.5 Allen Keys. Being bigger it might be easier to keep track of, but also more expensive to replace if it gets lost. The Manfrotto tripod Allen key is shown beside the multi-tool for comparison.

To keep track of my JuicedLink Allen Key it is kept in a zippered plastic bag. After using it though, (and this is the weak link), I have to remember to put it back in the bag.

Gah... Stupid comment deleted.

Just wanted to add: 8mm for the socket wrench, and you probably need a socket wrench to tighten the monopod legs.
