I have a GH4, which I am "testing" via the "4K 25p" setting, which actually 3830x2160 "UHD". I live in PAL land.
My Apple iMac and MacBook Pro have a screen resolution of 2560x1440 so I guess "2K', and this is the maximum resolution they will output to e.g. a 4K display.
The latest Retina MBPs will, however, output "3840x2160 at 30Hz and 4096x2160 at 24Hz refresh rates" per the Apple web-site.
I visited the Apple Store Liverpool yesterday in order to try my 25p footage on the latest MBP and a 4K display BUT the store doesn't have a 4K display. In fact judging by what I saw and heard they are more tuned to the needs of people who own iPads and iPhones, rather than those interested in video, 4K or otherwise.
I then visited a nearby department store where they were happy to let me connect my GH4 to two and a half thousand quidsworth of Sony 4K T.V.
I use my micro HDMI cable but all I got was a 1080i signal on the TV. Not an opportunity to play with all the TV settings, which I suspect was the problem.
My question and the point of this post, is should I be recording in "NTSC" at 29.97p or 24p rather than PAL 25p in order that i can (eventually) play back on a 4K display via a MBP or on a 4K display directly from the camera?
