Late last evening a user was able guess at at a location for the long awaited Blackmagic update. it looked like an official version to me based on the link address. I was able to download it, but this morning Blackmagic announced users should not using the version released.
As I had already uploaded it to my BMCC ef, I did test it today. It seemed to run stable. So far, I have noted vastly improved tonal range in the audio. However, there are no level meters as those were projected for a second release. Also new is actual auto focus in which a box is displayed at center of screen as the autofocus area. Works with EF lenses like my tokina 11 -16mm f 2.8 zoom. For manual focus there is an improved focus assist that displays in focus areas in a bright green. While I havent actually tested it, the new Prorez has been reported to be much better in the Cinema series, due to new debayering applied. Also, the GUI has been modified in the Cinema cameras, giving it a different look.
