Check out what they took on the road to shoot their epic documentary

OMEGA NEWS, June 20, 2014: Omega Broadcast Group is proud to announce that one of its own, Ricardo Palomares, is directing Pedal South, the film, and serving as an essential member of the cycling team making the ambitious journey from Alaska to Argentina. Their aim to document the people and landscapes of the Americas through writing, photography and film. Palomares earned his cred at Omega as a top-notch editor, producer, and designer, so when he approached Omega leadership seeking sponsorship for Pedal South, it was just a matter of identifying needs.

Omega quickly reached out to key manufacturers to secure meaningful support in the form of products the team will use --

They have made it to Seattle already! I was able to hook them up with a radio interview in Whitehorse, Canada before they came across the boarder though.

Satellite route / map with current location is here. Are you along this route? Know anyone along this route? Let me know.

An update shared to Facebook 11/11/2015 by Ricardo Palomares

17 months and 13 countries into our journey, we find ourselves with two countries and 5 months between us and the southern tip of the Americas. We have given everything to this project, we've sacrificed comfort and found as a result a simple, humble, and appreciative way of life. Loneliness, fear and doubt do not take as much of a toll anymore. Our desire to explore the world and our curiosity for people are the only things that stay constant, everything else is forever changing.

I've learned from the doctor, the fisherman, the clown, the architect, the chef, the farmer, the mayor, the vagabond, the window washer, and the drunk... After all of this I've realized that now I seek a place to call home, a place where I belong.

I explore to better understand the world and to better understand myself. I explore so that I can share beauty with all of you, hoping you all will feel inspired to do the same too. We have 2 more countries to go, 5 months or so worth of cycling, and we are pretty close to having no money left to do so. This month we'll be pushing a donation initiative to raise enough funds to finish the trip. We'll be sharing small insights into our lives to get you guys excited about the film that we'll edit at the end of our journey.

If you have already donated, we want to tell you how truly grateful we are. We couldn't do this without your love and support. If you haven't and you are able to, it would mean a lot to us. Anything helps. If you aren't able to help, please share our donation page to your community or to anyone that you think it might be able to contribute.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Ricardo Palomares

I recently saw the filmmakers were in Santiago, Chile. I emailed 8 people there and mentioned the project. I also found someone on this forum in that city.

Here's their instagram feed:

They did it. I always like betting on a winning team early on...

We made it! We're done.
Almost two years after dipping our tires in the Arctic water of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, yesterday we rolled into Ushuaia around sunset and set our bikes down in the shallow bay at "The End of the World." We're alive, safe, happy, and at the moment completely emotionally overwhelmed.
There's too much to say right now and we don't yet know how to say it. Before returning home next month we'll be wandering around Argentina for a bit; we're all excited to rest and begin reflecting on this immense journey. But keep in touch, over the next few weeks we'll be sharing more experiences and stories from the ride as well as news about our post-production work to come.
For now, thank you thank you thank you for all the support and love.

Met up with Ricardo the other day. We talked for two hours. It took 21 months to finish the ride.
