Hello, I'm taking an interest for Shure VP83F LensHopper and Rode Stereo Videomic for my Sony AX100. I know Sony AX100 has a proprietary hot shoe. Can I attach them on my handycam? If it is impossible what adapter have I to buy presisely?

Do you think those microphones are too much big for Sony AX100? What are your suggestions please?
Thanks

The Shure is apparently a good mic although I have not used one myself. Audio from the Rode is excellent, and I am very fond of the mic, but it is very prone to RF interference from mobile phones etc.

Be sure to try before you buy.

I have a canon HF11 small camcorder and find that the small sony ECM-MS907 mic is ideal for on and off camera use, you need to put a decent windshield on it though but I have done interviews and all sorts of shooting with this mic. It is a lot smaller and as an M/S matrix mix you can adjust the width of the image and it is ideal for producing a mono source for interviews etc, battery operated too and it has a built in high pass filter.

I do find though that any mic on the small camcorders is too big and gets in the way so it is always best to have the mic off camera if you can, I also use the sony ECM-MS957 mic off camera in a rode pistol grip.
