Hi all,

I am trying to figure out if both of the microphones that come with the Zoom H6 are condenser microphones? Or is it just the XY (based on a description on BH) and not the Mid-Side microphone?

I was looking at the specs in the manual and its hard for me to discern that since I am a newbie.

Thanks!

Robert

I would be very surprised if they weren't. Why do you ask?

Just curious. I assume the Shotgun and the XY is but not sure if the MS is as well.

They're all condensers, yes. The XY uses two capsules, the M-S uses three, with two capsules connected to emulate a bidirectional mic. In my tests the side mic array in the M-S configuration added too much noise to make it a useful option (I mostly record solo acoustic guitar which is a fairly quiet source).

All the mic modules are condenser.

The XLR add-on module does not provide phantom power, so it will only support dynamic mics or those that are self-powered.
