Canon XF205 Professional Camcorder - YouTube Kyle Root April 2nd, 2014, 10:09 AM looks nice Scott Hiddelston April 2nd, 2014, 03:02 PM I wonder if a 400/405 is coming? Mark Koha April 2nd, 2014, 06:36 PM So much for my theory of the next camera being 4K. This definitely has my attention for a possible B camera to my 305 though. Monday Isa April 2nd, 2014, 08:07 PM So much for my theory of the next camera being 4K. This definitely has my attention for a possible B camera to my 305 though. Well the XF400/405 could quite possibly be a 4K camera. The GH4 is 4K. One can only wonder. Maurice Covington April 4th, 2014, 10:07 PM This camera is a bit expensive and while a step up from past canon camcorders, it is behind with some of the others. I'm thinking that Sony's 4k camcorder may be a better deal. Any thoughts??? Mike Ayotte April 5th, 2014, 12:15 PM Here is a very interesting take on 4K that should be looked at. It is well woth the time. http://m.youtube.com/watch?feature=youtu.be&v=rzhIRR7pH0I Mike Mark Koha April 11th, 2014, 01:59 PM That was a pretty informative presentation. I like being reassured that I am doing the right thing by not jumping on the the 4K bandwagon. Kyle Root April 11th, 2014, 02:05 PM I'm still trying to get people to buy Blu Ray DVDs. Lol I think it will be quite some time before we have any significant 4K market penetration. 4K delivery on USB sticks etc or download will probably be where it's at. Andy Solaini April 14th, 2014, 06:46 AM I might be the only person but I hope if an XF400/05 comes that it is NOT 4K. Something like the XF300 that can shoot images as sharp as a C100 would be just fine thank you Canon. Maurice Covington April 14th, 2014, 09:45 AM Interchangeable lenses on the next model would be GREAT!!! Mark Koha April 16th, 2014, 08:17 AM I'm actually satisfied with everything my 305 can do. The only things I would be looking for on future models would be super slow mo. And I'm not talking 720 at 60 frames, I would want something comparable to what the FS700 can do. Mark Fry April 24th, 2014, 09:33 AM This camera is a bit expensive... Any thoughts??? Some great deals on XF100/105 at the moment, provided you don't need the extra zoom reach or AVCHD output options Al Bergstein May 10th, 2014, 05:58 PM This 205/200 seems like a nice compromise from the 105 I had. The slo mo on this is a nice added feature, still has the mxf and yet adds the mp4, not sure why I would use that though. I never was a fan of the Iris ND ring over the mechanical nature of my C100 and xf305.I'm finding I don't use the 305 as much as I used to (for reasons only related to the type of work I'm doing now), and might see a use for still having an ENG system but smaller. This seems to fit just fine. My investment in CF cards stands, I still have 4:2:2 and long run recording, and can likely marry it up with my C100 and Ninja if needed. I would have liked a longer throw Tele on this though. Steven Davis May 16th, 2014, 10:30 AM Interchangeable lenses on the next model would be GREAT!!! Only if it fits all my Nikon glass. hehe Tony Maceo July 9th, 2014, 12:45 PM XF 200/205 manual is showing up on the UK site: XF200, XF205 Instruction Manual Download: 0301563401 Release date: 03 July 2014 XF205 - Canon UK (http://www.canon.co.uk/Support/Consumer_Products/products/camcorders/Digital/HDV_series/XF205.aspx?type=manuals&manualid=tcm:14-1169193) Maurice Covington January 14th, 2015, 11:46 PM I've looked at this camera, XF200 and the XF300, and can honestly say that neither are great when used indoors in low light situations. It amazes me how many cameras continue to come out offering minimal or no significant changes at higher prices that both former models and current competitors. I want a new camera but I can honestly say that there is not one affordable Canon camera out there that I would purchase, at full price to replace what I already have. I just wish they would revive the XLH series or throw some interchangeable lenses on the XF300/305's and do something significant with the sensor and frame rates. David Dixon January 15th, 2015, 12:51 AM I've loved my XF100 since I got it in May 2011, but when I decided to upgrade recently, I went with the Sony X70. It doesn't have the 20x zoom and three rings of the XF200, but it's better than the XF100 in almost every way, has an upcoming 4K upgrade, and was $2300 instead of the $3500 of the XF200. It also has a 1" sensor so if offers shallower depth of field despite a slower lens. Due to that slower lens It's not really much better in low light, but the gain is so much cleaner that it has an effective 2-3 stop advantage over the XF100 in my testing. I do miss the waveform monitor (the Sony only has a histogram) and the rotating C100 style hand grip of the XF200, but I just don't see that the new Canon is going to make much of a mark. Mark Koha January 15th, 2015, 10:51 AM The 200/205 would have made a huge splash if they had come out at the same time as the 3/1. Instead it is almost more of like a 100 mkII. Had it been available at the time, I would have probably opted for a 205 instead of the 305.....although I do truly love my 305. Terry Dennis August 8th, 2015, 07:47 AM as anyone really tested the 205 against the 300 as not sure what to get coming from a canon xa 20 btw |
