At 2512 x 1068, moire and color aliasing is practically not an issue.

However, at this resolution and using a 1000X cf card, it can only do 17fps. Which isn't that totally useless considering we used to shoot at 16fps with 8mm film many years ago or that the GoPro shoots 4k at 15fps. :)

Here's some tests on how 17fps from the 7D looks.

With fast moving cars. (2k video)

I think there would be some uses for this.

2048x930 however, is 23.976 FPS. Here's a short piece testing this resolution and uploaded as 2K to youtube. Note that these resolutions are now with sound recording as well.

On your site I see you rigging your 7D with an HDMI monitor. Do you actually have no issues with this shooting RAW? I used to used ML with just a bitrate hack and at 1.5x bitrate I was getting dropped frames if I left it plugged in during recording due to maxing out the processor. No issues with RAW and this?

Using the current nightly builds, starting at feb 27-28 and Mar, there are no more problems using HDMI monitoring and playback.

Just note.

Connect and power on the hdmi first before cam.

HDMI is useful only in 1X mode NOT crop mode as framing would show the canon 5X magnification.

Playing with the nightly builds of March 3rd and March 4th I cant get the raw module to load, keep getting error "Wrong Version(v5.0, expected v4.0) and it will not load. Gonna keep backtracking until I hit a stable build.

March 2 was what I tested last that had no problems.
