Have been looking at footage taken a couple of days ago shot on my new A1. I'm shooting in HD but capturing via Premiere Pro in SD as all my output will be on DVD. My first hiccup is that the Premiere Pro 1.5 'scene detection' function will not operate with the camera. It is a great feature and I don't want to have to individually log all my scenes. Intertestingly, when I switched my recording format to SD and capture in the same, the 'scene detection' function split my scenes as normal. When speaking with Adobe, they recommended I download the 1.5.1 update. I did so but still no success. Will I have to record in SD until Sony or Adobe provide software to A1 customers which address all the bugs for Premiere Pro 1.5 users? Has anyone else had the same problem or can solve this one?

With Vegas, the only way I can get scene detection to work is to use Cineform's ConnectHD program to capture the video. ConnectHD is the Vegas codec and capture program which is well worth the money for this and other reasons. For Premiere you would use ApectHD or ProspectHD. Since I'm a Vegas user I don't know what the difference is, but you can find them here:

Interesting site. I wonder if both Aspect and Prospect have the same function that my Matrox card provides as it allows me to view my transitions etc in real time along with a few other nifty features. Any other thoughts?

Yes, both provide a number of optimized, real-time transitions, color correction, and so on.
