My MacPro bit the dust this weekend so it's time to upgrade. I don't do long production jobs I just need something to run Creatuve cloud. Mostly Premiere Pro but I am sure I will start playing with AE. I'm familiar with both Adobe and FCP but I like the idea of not having to buy an entire software suite
Most of my jobs are no longer than 15 minutes with most falling around 5 minutes. I just don't want a hour render time for a five minute clip if possible

I like the Videoguys DIY guide but I don't have the confidence to build it myself and don't know anyone in San Diego who could build it for me. I think a HP z420 workstation is more than I need. In leaning PC but could go for a Mac if I could get something fast and powerful enough for my needs and be below 2k in price. I'm not interested in the new mac pros. Too much money.

I wouldn't even mind a laptop but I am biased in my thoughts and fear any laptop Mac or PC would be too slow.

Any advice would be appreciated

Again. I'm open to both platforms just leaning PC after owning the MacPro

First suggestion is to read Tweakers Page (http://ppbm7.com/index.php/tweakers-page) and the articles there. That will give you an idea of where to go, what kind of computer you need for your work-flow. Then I suggest you contact a custom builder if you do not feel up to building yourself, and discuss with the knowledge you gained from the Tweakers Page what is needed in your specific situation. I do not know whether I can mention a specific company here, since I do not know whether they are sponsors, but if you search for 'Eric Bowen' or ADK you will probably find the company I would suggest. If you can't find it here, look at the Adobe Premiere Pro Hardware forums for links.
