Hi, finally, after months of dithering over what camera I was going to buy I bought a Canon C100 on Wednesday. Originally I was going to aim lower than the C100 but I've been lucky so far in 2014 as I got a whole load of corporate work in January and our wedding bookings have picked up quite a bit which has meant I can justify the expense. I've not had a chance to take it out the box yet but tomorrow I have a whole day to practice before my first wedding of the season on Saturday.
So really I'm looking for a bit of advice on what to look out for and how best to set the camera up. I've watched all the official Canon training videos but I always think it better to get opinions from those who have seen how the camera handles on an actual job.
I will be filming with a Canon 700D(T5) as a Bcam locked off for a safety wide shot in the ceremony and the dance, the 2 key moments here. I don't usually do much grading other than matching colors or a subtle touch on the trailer so I'm looking for the best option in the C100. I believe Wide DR might be the way to go. Can anyone confirm that it's good for weddings? How should I go about matching my Dslr? I was thinking of using very neutral settings on the dslr.
As far as lenses are concerned I have a new Canon 18-135 f3.5-5.6 IS STM to try out, a Tamron 17-50 f2.8 VC, a Sigma 30 f1.4, Canon 50 f1.8 and probably a Canon 24-105 f4. I was thinking of using the 18-135 f3.5-5.6 as my main lens on the C100 as it is supposed to have pretty good IS and it goes quite wide as well as quite long. I am probably going to leave the Tamron on the dslr as it is mainly for wide shots and it needs the extra light of the f2.8. The primes are there to be used if time allows.
Any thoughts on using a Rode VideoMic into the minijack but whilst having the handle connected?
