To all;

I just completed updating the latest FW v. 1.3 to my PMW-200. The FW loaded without a hitch. Based upon the 'Release Notes', it appears this FW update primarily adds WiFi functionality.

If, like me, you're not currently using the WiFi adapter, you might want to go through the 'Menu' and check to see what new functionality is defaulted to the "On" state before you go about your business. There were several.

Without the actual WiFi Adapter in-place, I don't think any of the 'default wireless' functions will interfere with 'normal operations'. However, I disabled those features by going into the 'Menu' and turning them 'off'.

I hope this helps.

Best regards,

J.

Hi all,

Did the update several weeks ago (found it on sony.jp or so, maybe a beta version?).
Sorry for not telling you guys about it.
No problems with update - but no changes in quality/behaviour/whatever.

Cheers,
Alex

I try to keep up with the FW changes, however, I have no idea when this was added to the Sony U.S. site.

Even though the camera FW updates are usually released in the U.K. and Asia before they reach U.S. shores, I won't use a FW update until it's released on the U.S. site. I don't know if it really makes any difference, but it's what I do.

Best regards,

J.

Robert Bale...I have no idea. It sounds like 'Marketing-Speak' to me. Maybe, this addresses the 'Back-Focus' adjustment issue? I don't know.

I noticed this website is in the UK, so this FW update may well be coming to the 'Colonies' shortly.

I wish Sony would notify registered owners when a new FW update for their cameras are released. Unfortunately, you have to check, on your own, periodically.

Best regards,

J.
