Jack Zhang January 22nd, 2014, 01:40 AM Try Alister Chapman's "Low Light" picture profile and you generally should stay on a wide zoom with the iris fully open to allow more light to enter the lens. Remember to use manual focus and generally use a tripod. I'm currently working on a new music video for my wife and I'm shooting it in "candle light". I gently flooded the set with additional light. With a bit of color correction, it retains the look of being lit only with the candles. I did not use any boost on the camera and I have don't have much noise in the images. Dave Morrison January 23rd, 2014, 10:40 PM Oh Kevin.....there you go getting all "professional" on us! After all, who needs to know anything about lighting when the cameras will do all the work? ;-) Kevin Spahr February 6th, 2014, 05:52 PM In case anyone might be interested, here's the candle light video: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/show-your-work/521525-music-video-candle-light.html#post1831018 Getting the color effect on the skin tones took a bit of tweaking. (the auto-correct on my phone was sure I meant twerking, that would have generated some questions) Doug Jensen February 6th, 2014, 10:45 PM Kevin, I think the video is very well done and I really like your wife's music. My only critical comment is that I think it is underexposed even for a video that is probably meant to look a little underexposed. Kevin Spahr February 6th, 2014, 11:18 PM Thanks Doug! Yes, it is underexposed, I had it brighter and didn't like it. Since this will only be on youtube, I decided to leave it dark - actually youtube put up a dialog window saying it was in need of improving and I could click their little button and they would fix it. I never seen that notice before. Dave Morrison February 7th, 2014, 09:51 AM Nicely done, Kevin. I really enjoyed that! |
