Hi,

I'm looking to purchase some new kit, but not sure where the cheapest suppliers are in the UK. I mostly look at ProAV which I believe is quite reasonable but wanted to check on here if any of you knew any good suppliers, thanks.

Hi Matt,

CVP (especially for cameras) and Jigsaw24 (also a major Apple reseller) have had lots of my money and provided very good service and keen pricing over the last few years!

I am also buying a Sony PMW-300 from H Preston Media tomorrow - and so far my dealings with them over the phone have been very good too…ask me later in the week!!! (but many speak highly of them).

I've also used ProAV (in my case for small items) in the past and was happy with them.

Note that most of the major UK suppliers will price match (if you ask) so go with the one you like.

Thanks Andy, the H Preston Media is slightly cheaper then ProAV may go with them.

Preston's are excellent, it's where I've bought almost all my cameras. Part exchange is very helpful!

CVP are just about the best all-round UK dealer, especially for their excellent website and online ordering. Proav shopping is too expensive for me, living across the Irish Sea., 30 quid on a tiny item is stupid.

I always found Jigsaw a bit expensive overall.

Anyone significantly cheaper than Preston's, CVP and ProAv will be grey market importers.

I can recommend both suppliers as they both have good demo facilities, (which I know you probably wont be able to get to).

However Pro Kit, Production Gear and CVP are at BVE this year, which is a little bit different. Sadly H Preston no longer seem to do the shows (unless there is some late news), they always had a very interesting stand and you could haggle a deal.

ProAv is top draw (I just wished they had a three-tier shipping to the Isle of Man instead of £30 flat). CVP and H Preston are also highly recommended.
