I'm working on a documentary that includes multiple interviews with people speaking Japanese, and I can't decide what the best method of working with it is. The final product is obviously meant to be for English-speaking audiences, and I want to use subtitles for final presentation.

My first instinct would be to create a caption file for each interview; I don't speak Japanese, so this way I could edit it "normally" within Premiere since you can display captions while editing. Doing that might cause me to waste time creating a caption file for each entire interview though, instead of simply getting a transcription and then choosing which clips I actually want, and then individually captioning/subtitling.

Also, I was planning on making hard-subtitles for the final product too, and my first instinct on how to do that is creating individual titles within Premiere or AE... but I know that's going to result in a million files at the end of the day.

Basically, I'm hoping someone has experience with this and can suggest the optimum workflow.

Thanks!
