Has anyone heard any rumours about a new shoulder mount camera with CMOS chips?
I'd like to find something like that under the tree!

View Full Version : Rumours Scott Berrington December 23rd, 2013, 09:08 PM Has anyone heard any rumours about a new shoulder mount camera with CMOS chips? I'd like to find something like that under the tree! Craig Yanagi December 25th, 2013, 12:15 PM Interesting rumor, Scott. Glen Vandermolen December 26th, 2013, 11:10 PM If it has the same light body design as the HM-700s and records in at least 50mbps, 4:2:2, then JVC could have a winner. I'm sure it'd still have 1/3" chips. But can SDHC cards reliably handle 50mbps video? Scott Berrington December 27th, 2013, 09:53 AM Yes Craig, it would be very interesting...a 700 style camera with HM600 chips...F11 sensitivity...422 colour...yes, very interesting;-) Craig Yanagi December 27th, 2013, 06:54 PM Great questions! Michael Warren December 27th, 2013, 06:58 PM Great questions! You tease! :) Shaun Roemich December 27th, 2013, 07:31 PM Remember that JVC bought a chip manufacturer recently... John Thomason December 28th, 2013, 02:03 AM If you come in with something like that, and I can use it in a studio configuration like the 250s or the 790s I will take 3 please Svein Rune Skilnand December 28th, 2013, 10:26 AM Very interesting indeed. And another smaller model with large sensor as well, please…and a great inbuilt codec. Then I would go all JVC. I love my HM750 with the Fujinon HTs18X. It is a great combination and will stay with me for many years to come. I have recently sold one of my EX1Rs and my FS100 because of it. I also have the JVC PL- adaptor and that will stay with me as well. Great package but not so great for traveling light and small. Glen Vandermolen December 29th, 2013, 07:52 AM Still just - Craig Yanagi December 30th, 2013, 08:22 PM One of my favorite LPs. Not rummaging through my vinyls collection, were you?... Svein Rune Skilnand January 4th, 2014, 01:24 PM I am really hoping JVC will bring out a new shoulder mount camera with 1/3 inch CMOS sensor and 50mbps so that I may continue to use my Fujinon lens and PL- adaptor. As a multi cam company I am in the market for a second HM750 and it would be a bit of a bummer if JVC released a new camera the next day after my purchase. Shaun Roemich January 4th, 2014, 03:10 PM My 2 cents is NEVER buy a camera before NAB unless you NEED one immediately... Craig Yanagi January 8th, 2014, 07:39 PM What if a camcorder debuts before NAB and meets your needs? Just an example, mind you, but that didn't stop the BBC from purchasing the GY-HM650. Shaun Roemich January 8th, 2014, 11:59 PM I PERSONALLY consider the debut of the HM6xx series as being the NAB where it was HAND CARRIED FROM JAPAN as a prototype so my assertion stands! ;) John Thomason January 9th, 2014, 01:24 PM Like I said before I would like to upgrade but the 650s are not for me great cameras, just not for me.Like the movie if you build it i will come John Thomason February 2nd, 2014, 06:30 AM I see rebates on most of JVC cameras. In the past that meant a new model was in the pipe line. Maybe NAB I will wait to upgrade after that. Svein Rune Skilnand February 2nd, 2014, 03:09 PM I just found this on the JVC website in the UK. JVC Professional Europe (http://jvcpro.co.uk/video/events/1207/bve-2014/) According to the website JVC will be showing of some new products at BVE in London in February. This will be very exciting to watch. It may be new 4K monitors or a fantastic new camera. I personally think that JVC hit the nail when releasing the HM650. Today, broadcasters seem to want to go live with breaking news before they even happen. This could be implemented in their lineup of shouldermount cameras. Svein Rune Skilnand February 2nd, 2014, 03:17 PM My 2 cents is NEVER buy a camera before NAB unless you NEED one immediately... I agree Shaun. I guess Sony and Panasonic use NAB to release or promote their new products in some way. Six months later they show up at IBC in Amsterdam. Canon seems to announce products at their own schedule. There are too many choices today. When I chose my first HD camera my choices were the Z1 and HVX200. Back then I went with the Z1 beacuse of the high cost of P2 media. It think it cost 2000USD for a 4 GB card at that time. And it is really not that many years ago. Back then investing seemed easier than today. Tim Lewis February 2nd, 2014, 06:47 PM I just found this on the JVC website in the UK. <rant> Amazing, someone found something useful on a JVC website! If JVC really want to compete in the market, they could do with having a look at the amount of information that is available on the Canon website about its cameras. You can find extremely detailed information about even consumer Canon cameras, but try to get specifications about a JVC camera and you can go insane looking at the six or eight points that JVC thinks define the specifications of a camera! How can we decide we want a JVC camera on such paltry offerings? </rant> Svein Rune Skilnand February 3rd, 2014, 06:53 AM And here it is: JVC GY-HM850E Full HD Shoulder-Mount ENG Camcorder (http://www.proav.co.uk/JVC-GY-HM850E-Full-HD-Shoulder-Mount-ENG-Camcorder/p34147.aspx) Tim Lewis February 3rd, 2014, 07:26 AM Nice! Christmas wish list? ( three years from now ;) ) Chris Hurd February 3rd, 2014, 10:51 AM DVi has a policy of closing threads like this once new products are announced. So, please continue the discussion here: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/digital-video-industry-news/521409-new-gy-hm850-gy-hm890-eng-studio-camcorders.html Thanks all, |
