fs100-by swapping gain & iso i can now store 6 presets!

this might be obvious to others but wasn't to me until this morning, so i apologize in advance.

under the camera menu, we have the opportunity to select gain or iso.

i usually do gain and select 0 +6 +9

i was fiddling with the iso select option and put in 500 1600 3200

when i toggled back and forth between the select gain/iso, i realized that the 0 gain and 500 iso were the same (obviously!).

then why store both?

i could use the gain to increase the light by smaller increments 0 +6 +9

and i could use iso for the bigger jumps when needed 1600 2400 3200

i can now store six presents rather than three.

well, live and learn!

i still find the fs100 to a rock solid indoor interview camera.

ymmv

be well.

Good to know. Thanks for sharing. I do wish there was a dedicated ISO or Gain dial (or at least a 2-button solution). But this helps.
I agree about this being a great interview cam. I'd love to know what your go-to lighting kit is.

In both cases, it's a pity that the lowest ISO is 500. On any Sony stills camera they go as low as 100 ISO. A shame these lower settings are not available on the FS100…

I agree--I use an ND filter even for many indoor shots.

Rob thanks for the info. I made a chart so I could test the different settings to get the most out of the six available presets. I do interviews with b-roll and a lot of the time the b-roll is very run and gun. So it may take me a while to figure out what is the best walk around settings but this is what I am starting with.
