Is it right that the magnify only does 2x? Can't seem to make it go bigger, but I'm more used to the 5x and 10x on the 5D3 or the much closer mag on the XF100, which for old eyes seems much easier!

Am I missing something?

Perhaps it's the peaking getting in the way (tried turning it off), but I'm having trouble getting critical focus on really wide lenses.

Oh, and the LCD sucks in bright light….. but then owners already know that right ?

I guess a loop is the only way….?

Dave,

This thread ran here earlier...

I use the hoodman and with the magnifier button, can get nice critical focus.

This thread also might be helpful.

Yeah, only 2x magnification. Play around with the different peaking settings. I like to turn the peaking gain up a little, but different peaking gain and frequencies might help. Also using a peaking color, like red, with the viewfinder/LCD switched to B&W is a huge help for me. Plus the Zacuto Z-FIND-C1 is very popular for $325.

The next big firmware update will be all about getting 10x magnification on your C100. :)

SSsshh! I just ordered the Z-Finder! OTOH, bring it on - I'd be happy!

The Z-Finder works very well but don't expect it to stay in place when the LCD is tilted with your eye pressing against it. It just can't hold the weight even with the bands. When the LCD is flat against the body it works very well.

SmallHD DP4 with loupe on magic arm is how I'm doing it. Worked well on my aviation shoot tracking planes. Took a bit to get used to the speed of change required for manually focusing on something coming at me at 100mph!
