I'm going to retire my trusty Irivers with giant squid mics as they are getting a bit old and worn now.
Can anyone recommend a digital voice recorder that doesn't break the bank, small (the Zoom is too big for my liking) and do any of them have a levels meter???
Cheers

We recently got an Olympus DM-620 ($115 new) and like it a lot. It's pretty small, weighs only 11 ounces. Noticeably smaller than our Tascams.
We pair it with the MM Series matchstick microphone ($130) for an almost invisible rig. Saturday I used it on the inside of the groom's coat, using fabric tape to hold it in place.

I just bought the Tascam DR-05.. I haven't had any experience with it but according to the reviews is as good if not better than the zoom h1 which I have and have had great experience with it.. Great thing if you buy the tascam through BH you get Plural Eyes 3 for free which is worth $180.. Great deal IMO..
