Sorry if this isn't in the right place. I didn't see a PC section and I will be using Adobe CS6...
I have 2k to build a new editing PC and have been looking at all of the options (Intel-wise) and am trying to decide between 3 options:
1. i7-3930k - LGA 2011
2. i7-4820k - LGA 2011
3. i7-4770k - LGA 1150
The CPU seems to determine the rest of my build (MB, RAM and so on)
I like the 3930k for the 6 cores and 12 threads, but it is pricey so would take away from GPU, RAM and so on.
I like the 4830k as it is under $300 and the LGA 2011 allows upgrade path to 3930k or 4930k
I like the 4770k as an alternative to LGA 2011
So I would like to hear CPU recommendations and why.
RAM: 16GB, 32GB or 64GB (only the LGA 2011 will take 64GB) and recommended speed? The 4820k is the only CPU that natively supports 1866.
GPU: I am eyeing the Geforce GTX 760 or 770. Preferences and why, or other?
MB: I like the ASUS Sabertooth motherboards for either socket type. Pros and cons for editing?
I will be getting 2 SSDs (one for OS and apps and one for scratch disk purposes) and 2 2TB WD Black HDDs for storage. I will be getting a 700-800W PSU, but an open to make and model (prefer modular). And for the case, I liked the Fractal Design Define XL.
Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I want to be confident when I pull the trigger. :-)
