Free FS700 4K upgrades at IBC. According to Sony Europe's Twitter feed (https://twitter.com/sonyproeurope) if you bring your FS700 to the Sony stand they will perform the v3 firmware update for free while you wait - and it won't cost you $400. I guess it wasn't as complicated as they led us to believe.

New model names/SKU numbers for FS700 with 4K firmware and SELP18200 lens bundle The new model names are NEX-FS700RH (http://www.sony.co.uk/pro/product/broadcast-products-camcorders-digital-motion-picture-camera/nex-fs700rh/overview) and the NEX-FS700R (http://www.sony.co.uk/pro/product/broadcast-products-camcorders-digital-motion-picture-camera/nex-fs700r/overview). Both models feature Sony’s E-mount lens system and a 4K Exmor Super35 CMOS sensor and now come with Version 3.0 firmware pre-installed, enabling 4K/2K RAW recording on an external compatible recorder. The firmware update also includes the popular S-log2 gamma mode which gives a wider dynamic range, even for HD productions.

The NEX-FS700RH comes bundled with a the motorised SELP18200 (f = 18-200mm, F3.5-6.3) zoom lens. The inbuilt zoom control on the camera grip enables users to combine smooth zooming effects with the stunning shallow depth of field control offered by the large format sensor.

Here's a video about the new models. NEX-FS700R/RH: Product Introduction Video : United Kingdom : Sony Professional (http://www.sony.co.uk/pro/article/broadcast-products-nxcam-nex-fs700r-introduction-video)

CVS (Belgium?) has the new FS700R listed for €5.695 +VAT, CVP in UK has the old FS700E for €6.229 +VAT (no price on the R yet). Is that a price drop or have CVS always been cheaper? (prices for the non kit lens version)

I've done the free upgrade today at the Sony booth at IBC. It was done in about 20 minutes, so for sure not so complicated as they said it would! Very pleased with the upgrade. Can't wait to get my hands on the Odyssey 7Q SSD recorder.
