I have read many mention "sweetening" the audio of the vows. I would love to know more specifically what you do to sweeten the audio. I have Premier Pro CS5.5 and Audition if that makes a difference with your advice. I have done very little with audio, but that is an area I would like to improve. Thanks!

I use Premiere CC & before that CS6. The crucial thing I find is to add some compression. This makes the speech punchier & clearer. If you mic up the groom only it will smooth out the different volume levels of the different speakers (brides often speak more softly). I will use other effects but only to repair problems e.g. Declicker & only resort to using Audition if it's really bad e.g. removing loud & intrusive hum from A/C

I mostly use EQ. I cut around 80-100Hz to minimize low rumlbe and raise a bit the freq. above 2KHz. I also do a small dip at 250 Hz as it seem to sound more pleasant.

To add to what's already been said, I like to tackle noise reduction first, including removal of distracting ambient sounds (like the photographer's shutter click). If you're smart (and lucky), then you've recorded the audio cleanly, clearly and with enough fidelity that you don't even need to sweeten. A properly placed high-quality mic will save you hours of frustrated knob twiddling. And don't even think of relying on DJ feed only. Some of the ones I've worked with don't know a foam cap from a foam latte.
