View Full Version : Streaming with two USB 3.0 ports?

Does anybody know if it is possible to capture on a good laptop from an HDMI camera through Blackmagic Intensity Shuttle USB 3.0 and simultaneously record the stream on an external SSD using the second USB 3.0 port? Will the system be able to give both USB ports the necessary bandwidth? Should I rather use an SSD on the eSata port I also have?

Dell XPS L702X (Intensity Shuttle compatible, according to several sources)

Many thanks for any helpful comments!

First thing to check is if the BM Shuttle is compatible with your laptop. It seems very few laptops actually work with the unit.

I would use the eSATA for the SSD as it would be safer to divide the resourced between the USB bus and the eSATA bus. More than likely a laptop with two USB 3.0 ports will be sharing the bandwidth between the two ports.

In theory it should work fine :)
