Guys, I know this post might have to go somewhere else but I feel many of you are pretty familiar now so hope this stays here and you can help.
Pretty basic question....I live in the UK (PAL) and a previous client has asked me to burn a DVD and BluRay from a previous wedding I did for her so she can send it to Canada.
I only have the DVD files and the BluRay ISO image, the raw files are long gone.
What is the best way to convert, if I can, and what issues could arise?
I suspect that the BluRay is a non issue re PAL vs NTSC and it will play anywhere as long as it is region free which I always select anyway. Is that true?

I looked in to this once, but didn't have to execute anything, so I haven't actually tested anything, but what I found was that Blu-Ray disc were fine in both regions. PAL disc will not play in NTSC DVD players. NTSC disc with the country code off should play in most PAL DVD players.

It seems that NTSC players struggle to play PAL DVD's but PAL players have no problem with either. Pity you don't have the project files still and the source. With me I just re-render my project to an MPEG2 NTSC file (720x480) instead of a PAL(720x576) and send the disks over to Canada.

Depending on your NLE, you just might be able to import the VOB files on the DVD and then re-render them as NTSC DVD files but it would also mean you might have to re-author the DVD for NTSC as well.

Let us know how you get on?? There are countless program out there that can rip DVD VOB files and make them into MPEG 2 again so have you looked at maybe something that can do a PAL DVD to NTSC DVD conversion?

I told her that bluray was a much better option as any discs I make for her should play fine in Canada as the PAL NTSC problem doesn't apply...that was off the top of my head without being certain.
Anyway, I also mentioned that it had to be a far cheaper option for her by going bluray than DVD conversion, even if she paid Amazon to deliver a cheapo bluray player to the Yukon.
