Can anyone comment my question from above: http://www.dvinfo.net/forum/canon-xa-vixia-series-avchd-camcorders/517557-genuine-canon-batteries-used-xa-10-not-compatible-xa-20-a-3.html#post1862429

Thanks,
Tim

I trust the question was whether or not the Wasabi BP828 works in the G20..

In other posts it sounds like you may have one, so give it a try. If it fits it should work. I believe that the issue with the older BP827 series was that the new camcorders use more power that may have exceeded the built-in self-protection features of the battery.

As I recall a different third party brand of BP828 worked in my XA10.

Yes, that is the question, and thanks for the relpy. Actually, no ... I own a XA25 and will be renting some G20's for a multicam shoot. Rather than rent batteries if I don't have too, I'd rather just buy a couple more Wasabi 828's if they will work in G20's and the like.

I thought I read somewhere (probably here) that you could go backwards with the batteries, just not use the old ones in new cams like the XA20/25.
