Sigma 18-35mm f/1.8 - how about that sucker!

So is no one else like, wow'd over this?? 800 bucks? 18-35 1.8? Get it for nikon and then a nikon to M4/3 adapter, win.

The fact that a zoom can keep a constant f1.8 is already amazing, but I find the zoomrange somewhat limiting.

This is exactly what I've been looking for but B & H doesn't have one for Panasonic. Let's say I get the Canon version, what type of adapter would I have to get for the GH2. Would auto focus and optical stabilization work with the GH2 and this lens?

From what I understand you need to get a Sigma with a nikon mount and then a Nikon to M4/3 adapter, best is to get a speedbooster so it's even faster and starts wider. Iris can be controlled on the speedbooster and focus is manual, no stabilization either, it becomes a all manual lens.

Hi Aldo - neither the auto-focus, auto-aperture nor the image stabilization will work on the Nikon, Canon or Sony versions of the Sigma 18-35mm f1.8 when adapted to your GH2. It will be a purely manual lens.

There is one way to adapt the Canon version of this lens so that the aperture will work, and that is with the expensive Redrock Livelens MFT (http://www.adorama.com/RR80900001.html/?KBID=68009).

Sigma has recently been pretty good about releasing micro 4/3 versions of their lenses (as with the Sigma 10mm f2.8, announced this week), but this time, they chose not to.

When using non Micro 4/3 lenses with adapters there is no electronic connectivity between the lens and the body, therefore no IS.

Thanks for clearing that up, guys. It's still on back order at B & H, so I have some time to make a decision.
