hi. i need to send a short film to a festival. file requirements are one of two options:

option #1:
Video : ProRes 422 HQ 1080i 4:2:2 YUV 10-Bit (LE) mov file
Audio : PCM 16 Bit Stereo 48000 Hz Little Endian (LE)

option #2:
Video : dnxhd 185 or dnxhd 220 4:2:2 YUV 1920x1080 (LE) mov file
Audio : PCM s16 - 16 Bit 48000 Hz Stereo Little Endian (LE) (sowt)

i'm running vegas on windows xp pro.

can someone please help me understand what i need to do in order to render my vegas project using one of these two options? i can't find either of these two video codecs in the codec menu and i'm assuming that i need to download and install from somewhere. if i'm not mistaken, i think i've also understood that option #1 is only for mac, which means that i'm left with only option #2.

looking forward to your advice. thanks!

Download and install the (Free) DNxHD LE package from Avid (google it) >install>when you want to render in Vegas choose quicktime (be sure you can see all your choices) choose the one that matches your project> look for video format in Custom choices pick the spec you listed and render.

Adi, version 2.3.8 is the latest build.
Avid QuickTime Codecs LE 2.3.8 (http://avid.force.com/pkb/articles/en_US/download/Avid-QuickTime-Codecs-LE-2-3-8?popup=true&NewLang=en&DocType=1450&q=Avid+Codecs+2.3.8)
John Rofrano has a very helpful tutorial on his at Avid DNxHD Template for Vegas Pro (http://johnrofrano.com/training/video-tutorials/avid-dnxhd-template-for-vegas-pro/)
Be advised that the link on his site brings you to version 2.3.7

hey mike, i'm about to make this render. i've downloaded and installed the avid codec successfully and i see it in the list of codecs in vegas : )
i'm just uncertain of only one thing.

the festival required specs mention:
dnxhd 185 or dnxhd 220

i'm not sure what the "185" or "220" mean.

am i good with the latest codec that i downloaded (per your link)?
it says - "cnxhd LE 2.3.8" and i'm not sure this is what i need.

can you please confirm this for me?

many thanks!

... looking into this a bit further, i think i understand where the "185" and "220" are coming from.

in the settings for the codec, i see a bunch of options for what seem to be resolution and frame rates. for each one of these is also a selection of some sort of three digit number. among these are 185 and 220. so i picked 1880p/25 185. the screening will be in PAL land and the material is HD 24p.

there were a couple of other settings i wasn't too sure about, so i left them at their default.
i left color level at: 709 (rather than RGB levels)
and alpha at: none (rather than compressed or uncompressed)

i hope that's correct : )

I wouldn't have changed the frame rate, since your original specs don't mention it I would have left it 23.97

hi roy. that was actually my original intention. but strangely enough, in the 1080p/23.97 selection there was no option for 185 or 220. that's the only reason why i opted for 25 fps.
