I'm just wondering if any of you took your HC1 to places with exotic scenery (eg: mountain scenery, any national parks or just places outside your city with beautiful scenery) and that if you could post it because I have never seen any good scenery with any of the HC1 clips online now. (No stock HC1 footage please!)

i was like you...about month ago.. looking for all hc1 footage on the web.. ..
don't hesitate buying this camcorder....
i guarantee you won't regret it...

the low light capability is not so bad.. but you must buy wide lense or this cam is useless..

I have a HC1, why do you think it's useless without a wide lense? I have thought of buying one but I am not sure yet.

epeacially when you are shooting scenery or city building..wide lense is necessary...without WD lense i feel this cam is DV wide with high resolution picture..

Yeah, it doesn't go wide enough on it's own. I have a Sony VCL-HG0737Y (http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=productlist&A=details&Q=&sku=396837&is=REG&addedTroughType=search) on order.

I decided to order one to. I figure I can only get more options. :)

it's not necessary to buy VCL-HG0737Y lense...i have tested this lense and cheap one..VCL-HA06 they are both good pic quality is same .. but VCL-HA06 only cost $60 :)

It just so happens that in the following clip, among other things, there is labeled footage taken with both these lenses:

IMO the VCL-HG0737 image looks sharper.

Hi

That's pretty useful footage and very interesting to see.
I agree that with the 0.6x there was noticable distortion and softening at the edges of the shot. It's always the edges that go first.

One thing - the lens in the clip was not stated as the HG0737 but the 0752 lens which is not the same i beleive. The "HG" lens should be better yet as it's got the Hi-Grade denominator.

Do you think anywhere there is similar footage but of the HG0737?

Is the VCL-HA06 a zoom through lense (is the whole zoom range useable). I know that the VCL-HG0737 series is zoom through.

Hi everybody. I have the HC-1 and both a Raynox 6600HD and the Sony VCL-HG0737Y wide angle lenses. The Raynox is a .5 vs the Sony .7 wide. I love the extra width, but even when you match them at the same (say .7) the Sony lens is sharper with less chromatic aberation. The raynox is not too bad a full wide, but as soon as you start zooming it becomes fuzzy - even though it is listed as full zoom through for the HC-1. The raynox is also smaller and lighter, but we are doing HDV for the image quality, so there you have my 2 cents worth. Have a great day - PK

Why’s that?

-EDIT-
I didn’t realize this thread was this old.
