Hello -

In the near future, I am going to begin the process of moving from SD video to HD video. In meanwhile, I thinking about upgrading my happy Mac Pro computer's graphics card. I've recently noticed the Sapphire HD 7950 3GB GDDR5 Mac Edition Graphics Card as a choice for a graphics card. Would upgrading to this card provide any amount of meaningful improvement in performance for Final Cut Pro X? (My current Mac Pro computer system is noted in my signature.)

Thank you. . .

Ed

Final Cut Pro X heavily leverages the GPU for rendering and exporting, so I think yes.

I have the same MacPro and can testify that ANY new card that is approved for the Mac will improve performance over the stock card that came with the system. I have a Radeon HD 5870 which improved FCPX performance by a lot. The 7950 has great specs and you can search the web for card comparisons especially at Bare Feats.

Thank you, both, for the informative comments. Looks like my next purchase for my happy Mac Pro will be the Sapphire HD 7950 card!
