Hi there

A bug that Ive had for some time. When I watch a video Ive made on TV (Either a TVC or a DVD). crossfades look noisy and unattractive. Not a smooth transition from one clip to the next.

Doesnt seem to happen when I render for web.

One idea that just came to me is that Im rendering out as progressive even if its for DVD/Television (I film and edit in progressive). Could this be part of the issue?

Im talking about standard crossfades when one clip is moved over another.

Thanks

Jamie

Perhaps it is a codec issue. What codecs do you use?

I mainly edit using mxf files. The problem seems to me more obvious when rendering to use on DVD or TVC 720x576 mpeg2 or 1024x576 Mpeg2

Render to MXF unlikely to have any problems. On MPEG-2 the transition might look noisy and with some blockness, especially if the bitrate is too low and/or picture is too complex. You can try a 2-pass MPEG encoding, where the required bitrate is low.
