It's a shame they aren't carrying over some of the more useful accessories like 2 batteries and the carry case. No doubt stores will still carry the "old" Ninja 2 in for some time.

I'm guessing a lot of people don't use the hard case & put the Ninja in their camera case. And there is a good chance many people already have Sony L series charger & batteries.
So I think it makes sense for people that don't need the extra accessories to save $100.
Though for people that want them, $100 is a good deal for those extras. I think it would make sense to offer those extra accessories as a bonus kit / bundle in addition to the "normal" kit.

Though after seeing the resolution for the Samurai Blade, I really hope they come out with a Ninja Blade that has that 720x1280 resolution, but HDMI inputs & at a lower price than the Samurai Blade.

Bottom line, they are lowering the cost by either $200 or $300. You choose the package that best works for your needs! Let's Celebrate!!!!

I didn't read it that they are doing away with the current offering but just adding a less expensive version of the kit.

I've been looking for an external recorder/monitor to mate with the 5d3 (after the FW update) and my buddy's FS100, not to mention my Blackmagic Pocket Cam once its released in July (power of positive thinking) and I was pretty much set on the Sound Devices Pix 220i since its a monitor, a recorder and has pro sound recording capabilities. Then Convergent drops the Odyssey (though media and recording option prices haven't been announced, and Prores isn't supported yet) and Atomos drops the Ninja 2 price making it less than half the cost of the other two. And to have Atomos working closely with Canon to get it right with the new FW so there are (hopefully) no issues. Damn tempting to go the Atomos route and just continue with external sound.
