Hi Guys

Something I have noticed now and again it when rendering a clip in Sony Vegas the rendering dies after about 5% and goes into error. The fault seems to be at the very front of the file always (I have had 3 clips do this so far) so it might be corrupt header info?? I have no idea??

Bear in mind that I create a huge number a clips each week (a wedding with over 100 and then 5 or 6 Realty shoots each with 16 clips per shoot) so it's a tiny percentage ... I had just one this week and if you trim the first 5 frames off the front of the file it renders perfectly.

Anyone know why this occurs??? It's a east workaround of course by including a bit or pre-roll before you start (sorta count to 3 and then start the real footage so you have a leader of 30 odd frames which can be culled if there is an error)

I'd still like to know what causes it???

Download a different editing package and try rendering the same files.

This sounds like an issue with Sony Vegas rather than the camera.

what version/build of Vegas are you using?

Hi Guys

The Version is 10E 64 bit Pro and I very much doubt that it's the NLE as it has done thousands of clips and never an issue ...I cannot see any issue on the vision on the first 30 frames stepping thru frame by frame but it seems the camera might have scrambled some data or there is a problem when the AVCHD clip is actually created on the card maybe??

Not a big deal though ..I always add a bit of pre-roll and post-roll to all my shots anyway so I'm covered.

If it's a faulty header, then your camera or SDHC card is faulty isn't it ?

I would download a trial version of some other NLE just to double check.
