I want to use the hot shoe connecter on the back of the camera but I need an hot shoe adapter to slide on the connecter. I don't believe it comes with the camera. Can anyone give me an idea of what the adapter is called or where I could get it. Thanks.

Larry...the HXR-NX5U has a very similar lay out, Sony includes a 'cold shoe' attachment accessory with the 'NX5' for use in the 'rear' position, but there are four (4) small threaded holes for attaching the cold shoe 'plate'. I don't if the PMW-200 has those threaded screw attach points. If it does, I think the 'cold shoe' plate assembly might be available from Sony? Never hurts to ask.
I hope this was helpful.

Larry...I found this on page 137 of the Sony "Solid State Memory Camcorder PMW-200/PMW-100 Operating Manual":
"To attach accessories to the rear accessory shoe, use the optional cold shoe kit (part no.: X-2546-633-1)"
I hope this helps,
J.

Thanks for the part number, still haven't been able to locate it. Can't find it on B&H either. Will let all know if I find it.

Perfect. Thanks so much James I was not finding anything. Thumbs up to the DVInfoNet team! Still not for sure why Sony would put a cold shoe connector on the camera and then not include the adapter to slide on the connector. Go figure.

Larry...glad I could help. That's one in a row for me. : )
I think the 1/4-20 screw hole in the 'rear' position is envisioned to be used as a 'Crane' attach point for overhead shots, etc. It's a little more sturdy than a 'Cold Shoe' mount.
