Anybody know if sachtler fsb 6t with carbon fiber tripod will be good enough for fs700 and canon 70-200mm lens with ikan 7d monitor on top, plus rode ntg-1 mic mounted - or is all this too heavy?
Trying to buy these things but first asking a few questions

It depends on what you mean by "too heavy", but surely each part of the payload has a published weight and the tripod certainly would have a specified limit.
Its all simple arithmetic from there.

Hi Kent,
I do a lot of shooting for a company that has two FS700 rigs. Theirs are slightly heavier (instead of the monitor, imagine a pix240 and an evf on each.) They have two sachtler tripods - a 6 and an 8.
We normally configure the camera with the 70-200 2.8 (they happen to use Alpha lenses, but weight is about the same) on the fsb8, and the camera with the 24-70 2.8 goes on the fsb6.
These configurations work fine for us -- but if you're doing a lot of shooting on the long end of the 70-200 (or want to use even longer lenses) an even heavier tripod might be an asset. If you're doing mainly interviews it should be fine.

Very helpful Dave, thanks so much for the info...look like I may need to get the FSB-8T.
