Hi Guys,
We recently put together a comparison test between the Zeiss CP.2s and the Sony PL Primes that shipped with the F3. You can see the full review at our shiny new blog: THE FORGE | Dreamsmiths (http://www.dreamsmiths.com.au/blog/)
Figured it might be of interest to some

Gotta say I preferred the look of the Zeiss in this comparison. Looked a little sharper, a little less warm and suffered less halo with the heavy backlight.
Curious though...was your subject a little snockered by the end of the test?

The Zeiss is certainly the nicer glass, what really impressed me was how well the Sony glass did given the price differential.

No.
Well...
Maybe just a little :p

Thanks Mark for posting that... very interesting.
I was shocked by the lack of contrast on the Sony 50mm, even compared to the other Sony's? It looked like milky flaring from the heavy backlight, but it's not visible on the other lenses. I must say, I haven't noticed that on my original Sony set. My 50 is a much better match to the 35 and 85 in terms of contrast.
I don't think I'd be able to rent out the Sony lenses as they just feel too plastic... but for owner operators on a tight budget they're surprisingly good.
