I always shoot in manual mode and live view for video footages.

I mostly take shallow DOF footages and for this, I want to have a control on the focus points.

But Im confused, how to handle this on 5D mk3.

Are you not manually focusing?

Manual focusing is fine, but how so you move the focus points ?

Have you set up the joystick for focus point control under "custom controls".

You won't be able to change it while recording is in progress.

I have both the dial and joystick set for focus points control only.

And I want to able to change on live view, before I hit the record button.
