View Full Version : Helping Hands from 2013
Christian Brown May 12th, 2013, 10:23 AM I'm in the area, and I specialize in concert recordings. You can see a recent video from the University of Maryland here:

Shaun Roemich May 12th, 2013, 05:42 PM Thanks Warren. I've got a similar "plea" on both my personal and business Facebook pages, information around what I'm looking for on my LinkedIn account as well as in the hands of a couple of very well connected social media friends of mine.
In addition, I have filled out an application at Aljazeera's web site.
I've never been one to put all my eggs in one basket so I have spread the proverbial net far and wide.
I grew up poor - the only way I can make a difference in this world is by leaving a LIVING legacy. I'll never be rich but I've earned a fair and decent living doing video for 15 years. Now as the market is softening, I'm trying to get back to why I started all this in the first place.
When I do shed this mortal coil, I hope my eulogy sounds something like "he may have never been rich, but he led a life rich in experiences and made a difference".
Or perhaps "he may have BEEN rich but..." <sly grin>

Mike Meyerson May 23rd, 2013, 04:40 PM Putting together a proposal for a corp gig that may include 1 or 2 quick shoots in Chicago (trying to figure out if it's better for me to travel or just subcontract someone in Chicago. Probably will take place in June or July....but since this is the corp world, that is always subject to change.
Will just be 1 or 2 different people talking to camera. Nothing crazy, just 1 camera & basic audio/lighting package needed. No teleprompter. Footage will have to be sent to me to edit.
Please let me know your level of corporate experience, equipment and rates.Feel free to email links to your work.
thanks.

Ryan Douthit May 24th, 2013, 02:06 PM I'll be visiting the Isle of man the first week of June and will be filming my travels for a small TV show I produce (doing most of my own filming along the way). I would like a camera operator available for part of the day on June 6 for some closed-course driving I'll be doing, and then (possibly) on June 7th as well to shoot me driving the TT course (car, not bike.) I will provide a Sony FS100, so no camera is necessary. (though, if you have your own, we can discuss.) Pay DOE. If interested you can email me at rdouthit - at - gmail.com

Michael Frymus June 3rd, 2013, 10:16 PM My name is Michael Frymus and I am seeking job opportunities working freelance or within a company as a Director of Photography, Gaffer, or Camera Operator.
Although I am not considered a professional DOP, Camera Operator or a Gaffer with over 15 years experience, I am very knowledgeable in the field. I am willing to work as the key position or an assistant in either department.
I have over four (4) years experience working as a Director of Photography, Gaffer, and Camera Operator on a wide variety of film productions ranging from Music Videos, Commercials, Short Films, Feature Films, Documentaries, and TV Shows on low budgeted productions. I would like to pursue working in one of these departments to further expand my knowledge by working on other productions whether it may be a key position or an assistant.
I recently joined and work part of IATSE local 873 as an Electric Permittee obtaining industry professional experience on set. This helps me learn more about lighting and camera, which will be a great asset for your production(s).
I am located in Southern Ontario (Close to Toronto, Ont), but I am available for hire worldwide.
Contact:
Further information can be seen on my website listed below along with my Demo Reel. I can be reached anytime on my cell phone or through my email address (Both listed below). I have also enclosed my resume and I look forward to hearing from you and working on your production(s), Thank you.

Lathe Poland June 11th, 2013, 04:26 PM We run a production company in CT and have a Luxury-type client in LI. We produce 90 second "business cards" for them. The shoot is an interview(s) and b-roll at one location in approximately two hours ($300). Each additional location is ala carte ($50).
We need a self-producer to shoot and edit these pieces, you need to have your own gear and be cutting in FCPX. Obviously, high-quality picture and sound are crucial. Additionally, the shooter needs to look and act the part of the professional. The workflow, L3's and bumpers are templatized in FCPX.
We need experienced problem solvers. The location might be tight, it may need lighting...the interviewee may need some scripting/dialog guidance. In other words someone that has been producing for awhile.
Lathe Poland June 12th, 2013, 08:21 PM Alternatively...someone that just does the shoot would get $200 + $25 for each additional location.
Robert Turchick June 17th, 2013, 02:22 PM Need shooter with camera/lighting/audio for product training video. XF300/EX1 or better camera preferred. DSLR can be used for b-roll but not main video.
Please contact me as soon as possible with rates and demo reel. rob@yipdogstudios.com

Please let me know what gear you would shoot and record audio with. I'll contact you off-line to talk about prices, but we are looking for a one-person "crew" and half-day rates are always appreciated.

Paul Mailath July 3rd, 2013, 11:06 PM yes that's right, not just anyone's shoe - it's Tim's shoe and it's in Washington DC from the 6th to the 9th of July.
Multiple System Atrophy Awareness Tim’s Shoe Info (http://www.msaawareness.org/?page_id=2148)
The shoe is used to raise awareness on Multiple system Atrophy - never heard of it? - that's why we need to raise awareness - up to 10% of Parkinsons sufferers could actually have MSA.
The world authority on the condition is Prof Wenning from Austria and he is publishing a book soon - his publisher has said that he can include a photo of the shoe but the only ones we have are just snapshots and include locations, people etc - we need a clean 'product shot'- something with good lighting on a neutral background.
If you would like to help and get a credit in the book please let me know.
I've attached a pic of the Prof. signing the shoe in Sydney recently
Paul Mailath July 4th, 2013, 06:16 PM update:
the show will be at the Embassy Suites hotel in Herdon, Virginia from Friday to Sunday.

Denis Danatzko August 16th, 2013, 09:04 PM You might also want to try LinkedIn. There you may even find that others you know can recommend cam ops, or provide other feedback.
Other possibilities include some of the freelance sites like guru, odesk, and there are likely others.
The only other thing I'd suggest is if you're looking for a cam op, know that what you're asking for is someone who knows how to use their/a camera, i.e. how to focus, pan, and zoom smoothly, how to white balance, and what settings to use for your purpose. That implies you know what you want shot.
If you don't know and don't have a shot list, storyboard, or other guide about what is to be shot, and haven't written a script (if it's called for), then you may need more than a camera op.
I know there are a lot of folks and OMBs here who provide more than only camera operation, e.g. pre-production work, writing, directing, etc., but if you're asking for/expecting such things, you should be prepared to pay for those additional services.
RE: Mediahalo...I've visited that site in the past and was disappointed. I hope a new approach makes it something much more worthwhile.
Darren Levine August 19th, 2013, 12:39 PM it's gone through a handful of old iterations which were its false starts, i started it with some paid interns and it got going but then other things got it the way and it went stale, then i started it up again based on shooter lists, and then finally my programming friend after never being able to find a project which he could sink his teeth into agreed to partner up on it. that was a little over a year ago, and despite his full time job coding at jp morgan, he's been hard at work on it. he just released the hopefully second to last round of releases that im bug checking now, and once we release it, it'll be open for anyone to make suggestions on what they the users want to be added/changed. if you don't like something, say it, if you want to see something, request it, it'll be an evolving thing.
i can tell you that the primary idea at launch is to let people know that before looking to craigslist to hire someone, and deal with making an ad and then sorting through disorganized emails in the hundreds if not thousands, first see if you can find an ideal shooter on mh with a few clicks.
Bruce S. Yarock August 21st, 2013, 08:11 AM Thanks to guys who got back to mr. The client never even bothered to get back to me, so they're on their own

Justin Molush September 25th, 2013, 11:10 AM I am looking for an editor in Montreal to finalize a project I shot that I do not have time to edit for the client.
The project involves cutting up interviews and audio to be used in a long form 10-15 minute edit and getting a good dialogue flow for the project. No need to worry about polishing it/grading and making it final at this point as additional footage will be added in the future and that second job will be available as well if the work is good.
Send me an email or post here, I will be monitoring the thread actively. I can send a PDF brief on the project overall to those available.
Footage was shot on 7D/C300 and can be delivered directly. I am located in Laval and can travel into montreal to deliver the footage. Deadline is kind of tight, but I can give details through email.
Thanks
