Anyone go to Res-Fest NY?

How big was the screen they projected the HVX200 footage on?

Was that projected material 1080i, 720p, or 1080P material?

Of cousre what did you think about the material projected?

How does the lens feel? How is the focus response, same as the DVX100 or?

Hey,

I've been there at the Tribeca Arts Center today.

They showed some footage on a small monitor in the lobby first. It was shot in Amsterdam, 1080i - not progressive. Looked good to me on that monitor, but it was just a monitor. But it did look good :-) - promising.

Later, they had the presentation in the theater. Talked about formats, from DV and HDV to DVCPRO and DVCPRO HD. Also about the P2 cards (the history behind them) and finally the HVX200 camera. Things we all know from here.

Last, the footage - on the big theater's screen. Honestly, I couldn't tell too much. The two-three minutes that I saw were shot by an engineer not by a professional DP - so, a lot of jerky movements, fast zooms etc. The detail was nice in most of the shots and I must say the picture held up on the big screen. But frankly, it was all interior, the light was not great, so I can't make any definitive judgement. Again, for me it looks promising. Judging by the history of DVX100, this camera should meet my expectations.

Jan (who presented the whole thing) said the camera is only 80% ready now - but a December release date looks very very promising. The PAL version due in March.

That was about it. Hope I didn't forget anything.

PS Anyone else went there today? Any thoughts on the quality of the footage we saw?

Forgot something: Jan said (I believe) that at this point the working camera that they had (and used for the footage we saw) can do only 1080i. Progressive will of course be a feature available in the final model.

So, the bottom line, we didn't see any progressive footage today. Only 1080i.

20min you mean in 720p.

True the P2 cards are very expensive but this was not something new...
