Can anyone tell me if the SONY MIKE ADAPTER XLR-KM1 will fit on the VG20.Thanks Wilf.

It will not fit the VG20 as it only has an auto-lock shoe for DSLR flashes. The KM1 uses the new Multi-Interface Shoe that replaces both the old camcorder Active-Interface Shoe and the Auto-Lock shoe that the DSLRs and SLTs used.

I have used the old style Beachtek with great results on the VG20. If you need powered adapter, they are available to. Thats all the Sony XLR adapter really is. (I used it briefly on the 70u),
